| Okay, so I know that there have been a great number of you looking forward to the Annika stories, and I have not written any for a long time. But I have to share one tonight! So we were in the car and Annika was telling me about things at "school" (day care). She kept on telling us about things that she learned while she was at school. She was listing a bunch of things, when she finally started talking about "sucker blooders." Of course I turned around and said that there were no such things as sucker blooders. She said that yes there were, because her teacher told her about them. So I asked her to describe a sucker blooder to me, thinking that maybe she was talking about a leech, or something like that. Then she started talking about how a sucker blooder jumps around and sometimes flies around too. That is when I figured out that she was talking about a mosquito. However, when I said that, she said no, it is a sucker blooder. She said that her teacher told her that those little flying jumping things would land on you and then use their nose to get a little blood from you. Well, she started thinking that meant that they were sucking all of her blood. It was totally hilarious. She really is a funny little girl! Then, when we started laughing, she informed us that she wasn't joking and it wasn't funny. She just cracks us up every day. Well, I thought you all would like this, so I had to share! Hope you have a great night! Jody | | |
| I know that lots of people love to read about how things are going here in Warsaw with the Dalbergs, but I also know that people really want to hear about the fun Annika stories that we have. So, without further delay, here is the first Annika story for the time being. Lately, we have been struggling with Annika waking up every night and wanting to come into our bed. We have started a new treat for her if she is able to stay all night long in her room (she can still wake up...which gives us little sleep some days). 2 nights ago, she went to bed and didn't wake up until the morning. We were so excited. We thought that maybe there would be a new trend. Well, as I was doing some cleaning in our basement last night, I heard the familiar sounds of footsteps up above, and I knew that I would be hearing a "daddy" or a "mommy" soon, so I headed towards the stairs to meet here before she got any ideas of staying awake. As I brought her into her room, she asked me if I would stay in there and rock in the rocking chair, and I told her that I might. The next thing that happened was the most amazing thing to me though. As I put Annika back in bed, she said, "Daddy, my leg hurts." I told her how sorry I was that her leg hurt and asked if there was anything I could do for her. She said to me, "Daddy, will you please pray for my leg that it will get better and not hurt anymore." I was so proud of her, and I almost started crying right then and there. Obviously we are doing something right. I am just so glad that my daughter already knows that there is a God who wants to hear from us in good times and in bad times. It was the first time she has ever asked me to pray for something for her. Usually, she prays for people when we are going to bed, but she never thinks of the things going on in her own life. It was just the coolest thing. Anyways, I gotta go for now, but I will try to give you more Annika stories as soon as I can. Thanks for your interest.

| Well, since Xanga has started telling me how much they miss me, as well as many others out there, I thought that I should put up a posting letting everyone know that yes, indeed, I am still alive. I do now know what the face of the earth looks like since returning after falling off of it. It has been a very busy few months since I have last posted. Since then, Annika has turned 3, and she seems to think that means she is a teenager. I don't remember knowing it all until I was at least 6 or 7, but she seems to have learned it all already! Things at the Corps have been up and down (which is pretty usual), but seem to be going pretty well lately. We have been focusing on our purpose statement here in Warsaw, in hopes that we can bring more unity to the congregation. We know that God is using this series to make some definite changes in lives. We even had three different times this past Sunday when people came to the altar to pray. It was one of my most amazing experiences to be a part of since becoming an officer. We know that there are many challenges coming our way, but we also know that God is doing some amazing things in our lives. If you get a chance, please remember to say a prayer for us. Thanks I will try to update more often (please be patient with me!!) Jody | | |
| Well, I have just one free minute to post something, and I know everyone really cares about Annika, so I will post a quick story until I can post more. Just to let everyone know, things are going pretty well, and we are gearing up for the Christmas season, so just keep praying for us. So, here is the Annika story. Last night we were in the car riding with Annika and we started talking to her about not picking her nose any more. She kept arguing with us and she said that she wouldn't eat them any more. Then we talked about how they can make other people sick too. Finally, she said "I just can't fight with you guys!" While we were laughing our heads off, she added that "I will just put my boogers back in my nose then." Anyways, I thought everyone might like this one! We will talk to you soon. | | |
| I guess I didn't realize how long it had been since I had last written on this board. Thanks Jennifer for pushing me to write again! Where to begin, where to begin. Well, music camp finished very well, and the kids did a great job. My vocal class was amazing and they worked so hard. It was a real pleasure to work with those kids and I look forward to doing it again in the future. Our vocal class combined at the mid-week concert with the B vocal and they were very good. Someone even told me that they had never heard a vocal group like that ever at music camp in Indiana! It was awesome to see what God did with the efforts that they gave. The summer rushed by and we found ourselves on the way to CBLI sooner than we could have even thought. We had a blast working with Jr. CBLI and the kids that were there. It was my first time ever at CBLI and I absolutely loved it. It was such a pleasure to be there and work with the kids who were there. I look forward to doing it again (hopefully). After that, we had a week of SACEP and it was a great class this time. We were in family dynamics and we learned so much. It was a wonderful group of people and I know that I will be taking what I learned and using it in my corps. I look forward to finishing the assignment so that I can use it in the future. After SACEP, we realized just how sick Amy's grandfather was. We were able to see him when we picked up Annika, and it was such a blessing because it was the last time that we were able to have any conversation with him. Soon after that, he was in such pain and was on so much medication, that we were unable to have much of a conversation with him. It was hard seeing such a great man in such a weak condition, but what was amazing was knowing that he would soon have a new body rejoicing with his savior as he is now! Things at our corps are still going well. We have been struggling with some leadership issues, but we know that God is going to work through those things. We trust that he will continue to deliver the right people here at just the right time! We have had some pretty amazing things happen in our corps this fall. I think that the most exciting thing was the back to school carnival. We had a blast preparing and throwing this carnival for the neighborhood kids. It was so much fun. We had over 200 people there and we were able to meet a great need within our community of handing out school supplies. This was the third year that we did it and it seems that each year gets better and better! We are looking forward to a very busy year, and we know that God is going ahead of us. We trust that what we do will be along with his will both for us and for our corps. On a personal note, we are still struggling with some issues within our own family. Please keep us in prayer! Annika is doing very well, growing up way too fast! She has started a new day care and she loves every minute of it. She says things to us that just amaze us each and every day. Hopefully I can get some pictures on here soon. I will put one on that I love that my mom sent me. It is one of my favorites.
Well, I must go for now. I will try to be better at updating this board. Bear with me please! | | |
